Purchasing A Land Rover That’s A Couple Years Old Can Help You Save A Lot Of Money

February 8th, 2012 yourmom

Buying a Land Rover that has been on the road between one and two years can make sense although we all like the idea of having a new one and the feelings that come with that. I was cautioned against acquiring new Land Rovers by my own grandma several years ago. Her recommendation appeared to be to find a Land Rover that had not clocked up a great number of miles and was around two years old. This should imply the vehicle I ended up owning was in fairly good order especially since any work that had been needed on it up to that point would have been Land Roverried out.

There are additional positive aspects to purchasing a moderately older Land Rover in addition to those above which I still follow now whenever I decide to purchase a Land Rover. I will now expand further on just why buying a Land Rover that is not extremely old can result in saving you a bunch of money.

After purchasing a new Land Rover, it can be worth a few thousand less immediately after you leave the Land Rover showroom and is something you may not have considered. Any purchase transaction of say $25,000 for a new Land Rover will not have been beneficial for you even when you think it was. The amount may be as low as $20,000 as soon as you wave goodbye to the Land Rover dealer. Sacrificing $5,000 dollars can occur in that brief space of time and those initial miles covered.

Go on and purchase a brand new Land Rover if you feel I am being extreme. Once you have, apart from going home, do not drive anywhere else. Go back to the showroom the day after and see what valuation they put on your Land Rover then. Most likely for that $25,000 Land Rover you invested in yesterday they will just offer you $15,000 to $20,000 for the trade in value.

This has been the industry standard for many years. However right now a number of dealerships are offering you a 100% trade in price for 30 days after you buy the Land Rover. But the moment those 4 weeks have come to an end, you are out of that $5,000 no matter how you look at it. And in case you try to sell your vehicle outright you could find yourself losing even more than that.

At this point when you buy a Land Rover that is a few years old you won’t be losing that instant devaluation when you drive it off the lot. And naturally like my grandmother pointed out, any issues the Land Rover may have, will have been figured out by then. So when you look at it that way, by purchasing a pre owned Land Rover with low mileage you will actually be getting more for your money than if you bought a new Land Rover at the dealership.

This is just something to keep in mind the next time you are thinking about getting a new Land Rover. If you don’t mind missing out on that new Land Rover smell you can end up getting a much better deal. Learn more about land rover wheels.
